MALEVOLENT CREATION Guitarist Talks About Upcoming DVD, Live Album
April 26, 2004MALEVOLENT CREATION guitarist Phil Fasciana recently spoke to the Danish web site Supreme Brutality about the group's upcoming ninth full-length album, "Warkult", and plans for a possible DVD/live CD release. The following are several excerpts from that interview:
On recording HOBBS ANGEL OF DEATH and LEVIATHAN covers during the sessions for the new CD:
Phil Fasciana: "We did record HOBBS ANGEL OF DEATH's song 'Jack The Ripper' but [former CANNIBAL CORPSE/LEVIATHAN and current SIX FEET UNDER singer] Chris Barnes didn't get the LEVIATHAN lyrics to us in time because he was on tour so we were unable to record any of those songs. We are planning to record possibly two LEVIATHAN songs later this year with contributions from Chris as well. We will see!!!!"
On the possibility of a DVD release later this year:
Phil Fasciana: "We are still piecing it all together, we have a lot of footage and we want to include the entire history of the band, not just a few shows from recently. It will be a good trip through our past for sure with a lot of hilarious footage [including video material from] rehearsals from 1987 and our first show from 1987 opening up for Canadian punk band S.N.F.U."
On plans to release a live album:
Phil Fasciana: "Yes, we recorded a live album in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil 5 months ago and it will be released later this year. It is titled 'Conquering South America' and has 15 songs!!"
On whether Phil's side-project HATE PLOW is still around:
Phil Fasciana: "We have been so busy with MALEVOLENT CREATION and our lives. It has been hard to get together and put a new HATE PLOW album together but it will happen by the end of 2004 and it will be released in late 2004 or early 2005. It will be a grindcore extravaganza without a doubt!!"

MALEVOLENT CREATION have set a June 28 European release date through Nuclear Blast Records for their ninth full-length album, "Warkult". The album is expected in the U.S. in late July.
Said to be the band's "most diverse and punishing record to date," "Warkult" was recorded at Liquid Ghost Recording Studio in Boca Raton, Florida by Phil Plaskon and mixed at Studio Wild in Quebec by producer Jean Francois Degenais. Mastering duties were handled by Bernard Belley in Montreal. "Warkult" marks the return of drummer Dave Culross to the group's ranks.
